Because families are the most important thing in our lives and no other party gives families top priority. FAMILY FIRST understands that raising a family is hard work and families need all the help and support they can get. FAMILY FIRST raises issues that really matter to families,
What is the history of FAMILY FIRST?
FAMILY FIRST contested the federal election in 2004 and Steve Fielding was elected to the Senate. One of 16 children from Melbourne, Steve's career has been in business, mostly in finance and telecommunications. But his proudest achievement is his own family - his wife Susan and three children. FAMILY FIRST also has two state politicians in South Australia and one in New South Wales.
What does FAMILY FIRST believe?
- That the heroes of Australia are its Mums and Dads who have the toughest job of all, but also the most important job of all, raising children;
- That children are our greatest gift and the future of our nation;
- That families should have genuine choice about how they balance their paid work and family life;
- That people must accept personal responsibility as well as community obligations;
- That workers who have children are parents first and workers second;
- That we must reduce the crippling number of marriage and relationship breakdowns and do all we can to support families.
